Create an event promo code
Create a shared code when several customers should use the same offer. For example, a neighborhood welcome code could take 25% off tickets for one event.
You need permission to manage promotions for the event. An organization owner can complete this workflow.
Create the offer
- Open the event and select Promos.
- If the event has no promotions, select Create Promo. Otherwise, select Add Promo, then Create new promo.
- Enter Name (visible to customers). Use a clear description such as “Community Neighbors 25% Off.”
- For a percentage offer, enter Discount percent, such as
25. - Add an Internal note if staff need context about the offer.
- Under How customers get it, choose One shared code.
- Enter Shared promo code, such as
NEIGHBORS25. - If you want a limit, enter Max redemptions per code. For example,
10limits how many times this code can be redeemed. This is a different field from Max tickets per code. - Select Create Promo.
The promotion is created as Inactive. Do not distribute the code until you have reviewed and activated the offer.
Review its scope and activate it
In Edit Promo, check the event listed under its targets. A promotion created from this event's Promos page should target that event. Also check the discount and the code's limits.
Select Inactive to switch the promotion to Active. Wait for the status to update before leaving the editor.
For an in-person sale, staff can now apply the promo at the box office. The promotion name and code help staff find the correct offer.
If the offer cannot be used
Check the promotion's active state, its event targets, and the code's limits. A code's limit is separate from any overall promotion limits. Include the promotion name, affected event, and exact message when contacting support.
