Overview
The box office lets staff book tickets for a customer while working directly with them. Start with the intended event time, choose tickets, identify the customer, and review how the booking will be paid. You need a role with access to the relevant box-office actions.
Choose the event time and tickets
Confirm the date, time, and venue before selecting tickets. General admission uses ticket quantities and tiers; reserved seating uses specific seats on a map. Adding a ticket to the selection is not the same as completing its order.
Seats held for in-person sales may need a box-office reservation code to become available. That code unlocks seats; it does not provide a discount. For a discount, follow the box-office promo guide.
For card payments, first set up Stripe Terminal.
Record the agreed payment outcome
A card sale, a cash sale, a complimentary booking, and an unpaid booking represent different outcomes. Choose the one agreed with the customer:
- Card: send the payment to a registered terminal and wait for confirmation.
- Cash: collect the money and record the sale using the cash-ticket workflow.
- Complimentary: use the complimentary-ticket workflow when admission is being provided without payment.
- Collect later: create the booking with payment still due and arrange payment for that existing order.
Review the customer and total before confirming. Sending a payment link does not settle a balance, and collecting cash is different from recording a comp.
Complete the handoff
Check the order confirmation and make sure the customer knows how to access their tickets. Once the tickets are active and the attendees have arrived, follow the check-in guidance at the end of the relevant sales article. Completing the purchase and recording arrival are separate actions.
For later payment, refund, exchange, or access requests, find the existing booking under Orders. Configure the prices, fees, and promotions used for future sales under Pricing & Policies.
