Overview

Collect Later creates a booking with an outstanding balance. A payment link lets the customer pay that balance online. These are two parts of the same workflow: first create the order, then settle it without booking the tickets again.

When to use collect-later bookings

Use this approach when staff need to arrange the tickets before payment can be completed. For example, a customer might want to pay online after staff select their seats, or pay in person for an order already arranged.

You need the customer's name and correct email address. Eventyr sends a balance-due email after the booking is created. The confirmation explains that tickets become active after payment; an unpaid booking is not a completed cash or card sale.

For the booking steps, follow Create a collect-later order. If the customer is ready to pay immediately, use a cash or card-present sale instead.

Choose how to settle the order

An unpaid booking offers Payment Link, In-Person Card, Cash, and Comp as the next step for its balance.

The same order can be settled online through its payment link or in person. In-Person Card sends the payment to a Stripe Terminal reader. Cash records money staff have received. Comp waives the balance without receiving a payment.

Follow Settling a collect-later order for those choices. Check the current amount due before taking payment, especially if someone else may already have paid through a link.

A link or QR code gives the intended payer a route to the existing booking's payment instructions. Emailing or sharing it does not itself settle the order. Replacing a link invalidates earlier links; revoking one stops that link from being used. Neither action cancels the booking or clears its balance.

Use Managing payment links when the customer needs new instructions or an old link should stop working. Keep private payment links and QR codes out of public posts.

Confirm the outcome

Review the order after payment or a complimentary adjustment and confirm that no balance remains due. If a payment result is unclear, check the existing order before collecting money again. Once tickets are active, staff can check attendees in when they arrive; settling the balance does not automatically check them in.
