Override event and collection fees

Use an override when an event's ticket fees or a collection's pass fees should differ from your organization's usual item-level fees. You need permission to manage those fee settings; an organization owner can follow these steps. Organization order-level fees still apply.

Set the override​

  1. Open Events or Collections, select the offer, and open Taxes & Fees.
  2. Review Inherited Fees. Expand Show global fee details if you need to review the organization settings.
  3. Turn on Override item-level fees.
  4. Under Custom Item-Level Fees, select Add Fee.
  5. Enter Fee Name, then set Percentage (%), Amount ($), or both. For a percentage-only fee, leave the fixed amount at zero.
  6. Review Apply Online, Apply In-Person, and the fee's other settings.
  7. For an event, select Save and wait for Taxes and fees saved. For a collection, select Save Fee Settings and wait for Collection fees saved.
  8. Reopen the tab to check the saved fee.

The override replaces inherited item-level fees for the selected event or collection. Organization order-level fees remain separate. Collection overrides apply to pass purchases in that collection.

Check the new total​

For an event example, suppose the organization has a $2 order fee and a $1 per-ticket fee. Two $24 tickets would total $52 before other taxes or charges.

Replacing the ticket fee with a 5% Concert Services fee changes that total to $52.40: $48 in tickets, $2 in order fees, and $2.40 in event-specific fees. Review the total in the box office before completing a cash sale.

For a pass example, a $60 pass with a $2 order fee and $1 inherited item fee totals $63. Replacing the item fee with a $1.50 Pass Services fee changes the total to $63.50. Open the public collection page, select Configure Passes, choose the pass and quantity, and review the total. On a phone, continue to the order review.

Exclude a fee from a sales channel​

Turn off Apply In-Person or Apply Online for the fee, then save the settings. Review a new order in that channel to check the result.

In the event example, disabling Apply In-Person gives a $50 box-office total. In the pass example, disabling Apply Online gives a $62 online total. The $2 organization order fee remains in both cases. The override is still enabled, so the inherited item fee does not return.

Return to inherited item-level fees​

Turn off Override item-level fees, then select Save for an event or Save Fee Settings for a collection. Check Inherited Fees and review a new order total. The examples return to $52 for the tickets and $63 for the pass.

Changing future fee settings does not change the payment recorded on an earlier order or an existing purchased pass. Handle any requested refund separately.
